Our New Year’s Resolution

Published on 14/12/2016

Leigh Dental Centres 2017 new year’s resolution is to help you achieve your perfect smile.

Studies have shown that 75% of people do not like smiling at the camera. A bright white smile can not only help you to appear younger and more attractive but can also help to improve your confidence and self-esteem.

The dental team will put together a customised treatment plan tailored specifically to address any concerns you may have with regard to your mouth and smile. It will include a number of different treatments from the list below.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is a safe and effective way to lighten the natural colour of your teeth. It can help to treat discolouration caused by food, drink, smoking, medication and general ageing.

There are two main forms of teeth whitening:

In surgery teeth whitening– the whitening solution will either be painted onto your teeth or loaded onto custom made bleaching trays. A special light will then be shone onto the teeth to activate the gel. Treatment normally takes around one hour and during this time the procedure will be repeated two or three times.

At home teeth whitening– the dentist will first take impressions of your teeth, which will be sent away to create custom made whitening trays. These are worn at home, normally at night for a period of 2 – 3 weeks. You will then be able to whiten your teeth at a time to suit you and around your own schedule.

The darker your teeth the longer it will take to get results, your dentist will be able to give you an expected timeframe prior to treatment. Refill gels, for top ups, can be purchased from your dentist as and when required to maintain your whiter smile. Teeth whitening is a very affordable way to get a dramatic change in your smile.

Here at Leigh Dental Centre we use either Pola Advanced Teeth Whitening System and Opalescence Tooth Whitening System. The dentist will be able to advise you on the best treatment to meet your needs.

Teeth Straightening

Teeth straightening has seen a rise in popularity over the past few years, with a large number of adults now looking to improve the appearance of their smile using new teeth straightening methods. Here at Leigh Dental Centre we are able to offer Invisalign, Invisible braces and CFast braces.

InvisalignInvisalign was developed by Align technology in 1997, to straighten your teeth using a series of custom made clear aligners. Prior to any treatment, you will be shown what your teeth will look like at the completion of treatment with Invisaligns computerised treatment plan. This helps to take the mystery out of teeth straightening. With over 2.5 million people already treated you can be sure that Invisalign allows you to transform your smile without disrupting your life.

Invisible braces — Invisible braces use various sets of clear braces to help move your teeth into the desired position. It will be necessary for you to attend for appointments every 4 – 6 weeks to be issued with your new aligners and once your treatment is finished you will need to wear retainers to hold your teeth in their new position. Invisible braces enable you to carry on with your daily chores without anybody knowing you are undergoing teeth straightening. Invisible braces allow you to effectively and affordably straighten your teeth.

CFast: Cosmetic Tooth Straightening — CFast was originally developed by Dr Biju Krishnan in 2009 and is now being used by dentists across the world. CFast is a short term orthodontic treatment which focuses on straightening the front 6 – 8 teeth that are visible when we smile. It is possible to see results in as little as 8 weeks, with an average treatment time of 5 months. CFast uses clear brackets and tooth coloured nickel-titanium wires to make sure that the brace is as unobtrusive as possible and therefore minimises the effect on your day to day life.

Implants

A dental implant is a safe and reliable way to replace a missing tooth or teeth. A dental implant is inserted into the jaw and a crown, bridge or denture is fixed over it. With a good oral hygiene routine a dental implant should last for a number of years. Prior to any treatment you will need to attend for an assessment with the dentist and they will be able to determine if dental implants are suitable, they will take x‑rays of your jaw to determine the health and amount of bone present. If there is not sufficient bone, it may be necessary to perform a bone graft prior to treatment.
