A dental crown is a tooth shaped cap that is placed over a tooth to strengthen, protect and restore a damaged tooth as well as being used to anchor a bridge or denture firmly in place in the mouth. Crowns can also be placed over a dental implant to provide a tooth like shape and structure for function.

Crowns and bridges are made of white, ceramic that is colour matched to your natural teeth and are cemented onto existing teeth or dental implants and can only be removed by a dentist.

  • Crowns are fixed prosthetic devices – this means they can be looked after in the same way as your natural teeth and they will not move when you smile, talk and eat.
  • Crowns improve the appearance of teeth – Crowns can be used to add length or width to misshapen teeth, mask tooth discolouration’s and cover a dental implant.
  • Crowns are long lasting – Studies have shown crowns last longer than any other dental restoration.
